Frankenstein; Or, The Modern Prometheus by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley

In the 19th century, young scientist Victor Frankenstein becomes obsessed with the idea of creating life. He collects body parts from graveyards and assembles them into a human form. Using his scientific knowledge, Frankenstein brings the creature to life, but is horrified by its appearance and abandons it.

The creature, intelligent yet monstrous in appearance, tries to integrate into society, but faces rejection and fear from everyone he meets. Desperate for companionship, the creature pleads with Frankenstein to create a female companion for him. Initially agreeing but later horrified by the implications, Frankenstein destroys the female creature before she is brought to life.

Feeling betrayed, the creature vows revenge, leading to a tragic chain of events that destroys everything Frankenstein loves. The story culminates in a dramatic chase into the Arctic Circle, where Victor Frankenstein tells his tale to an explorer named Walton before succumbing to exhaustion and dying. The creature, mourning the loss of its creator, disappears into the icy wilderness, presumably to die.

“Frankenstein” is a tale of ambition, responsibility, and the consequences of playing God, highlighting the moral and ethical dilemmas of science and creation.
